During all his creative activity Ugo used different materials, from ceramic to iron, from concrete to gold with very great expressive skill, using sometimes rusted iron to symbolize the effect of the time in the art as in the life.. His vision has been based on the creation of a new conceptualization of the relation between subject and object, a new code of reading for the reality. In this new code artworks becomes a media of collective communication and of social osmosis.
Ugo investigated for long time the relationship among architecture and art and he arrived to think that in our period this two are in a form of separation: whilst in ancient time architecture was unified with beauty and arts, today it changed leaving to architecture the function of purely material house building.
In present days’s house building art and beauty totally disappears, victim of functionality, spontaneous beauty fall in front of efficiency. But this way of doing have a heavy counter effect on men’s life, it make people unhappy and sad. It is therefore need a different way to design and project the space around us.
ugo1animatedAccording to Ugo’s conception artists must always co-operate with the planners and architects to ensure the integration of beauty in even in common use structures.
Creating a real and effective co-operation between different arts will create the conditions to really impact and improve people’s daily life, creating a happier life through beauty.
So Ugo happily co-operated during all his artistic research and activity with other artist and other technicians as economists or architects.
orchanimatedIn 1980 he created the project Fabbrica Felice(Happy Factory), in which tried to plan and build “a new space for a new man”.
And again in 2004 following his vision he co-operated with the group STS (Latz, with Pession and Cappato) and this co-operation brought them to won the international contest for the creation of the Park Dora Spina 3 in Turin.
This space will be free from negativity and will give to the new man a daily contact with art and beauty, developing an emotional relationship which hopefully will give him motivation and support in the daily life struggle.
The object which now is “mortified” from the uncontrolled multiplication of mass production, could find again with a spontaneous production his true psychological dimension.
Which is in Ugo’s vision the dimension of the mediator: objects and shapes mediate between reality and people’s mind, building emotions and feelings, giving meanings to facts. This is the importance of surround us with object which posses meanings and messages, which speak to our deep self.
Objects can make us happier or more isolated and alone.
Ugo dreamed the restructuration of the space around our life, the re-designing of cities and factories, the creation of artistic parks and spaces of freedom to bring back happiness to people’s life.
Coming to terms with the past and the metamorphosis of the place from industrial use to leisure use are fundamental aspects of the planning process. Retaining existing buildings and transforming them is a significant factor” Latz + Partner (STS Servizi Tecnologie Sistemi from Bologna, Pfarré Lighting Design, Studio V. Cappato, Studio C.
